Team Emmit is thrilled that the Heart Walk is back, and in person this year! Please join us as we walk in the heart of Des Moines to raise awareness for heart disease. 

Many of us and our loved ones have been impacted by heart disease. Emmit's story began before he was born. A team of doctors supported Emmit as we monitored his congenital heart defect closely; Emmit has transposition of the great areteries.

Emmit's first heart procedure happened when he was just two days old. In addition to that, Emmit also needed to have an arterial switch operation, which was an open-heart procedure; his switch was made when he was 16 days old. 

Emmit spent the first month of his life at Mercy Hospital in downtown Des Moines, and boy was he a warrior! Emmit continues to be a warrior as he's monitored closely by his pediatric cardiologist. 

Please join Team Emmit as we celebrate our heart warrior. This will be Emmit's ninth heart walk, and he's ready to be surrounded by freinds and family as we raise awareness for everyone whose been impacted by heart disease.
