There were a lot of things I knew I wanted to be one day: a mother, a wife, a writer. But I never knew how much I wanted to be an adult congenital heart defect survivor -- and a heart attack survivor at the age of 32.
Every year, about 40,000 babies are born in the U.S. with a congenital heart defect. And, thanks to organizations like the American Heart Association, more and more of these babies are living full, healthy lives each year. Thanks to amazing medical advancements available today, my congenital defect was repaired after I suffered a heart attack, and I'm able to live a full life with my active triplets.
