As many of you may know, this year's Heart Walk is very personal to me and my family. In March of last year, my wife Lauren was hospitalized and later diagnosed with pericarditis as a complication from having covid a month before. This event rocked our family to the core and has led to so many changes in our lives since then. Unfortunately, reports of people suffering from pericarditis & myocarditis post covid are becoming more common.
From seeing what my wife experienced, more research is needed into the link between covid and the heart as well as the difficulty many patient’s face in getting diagnosed and proper treatment for pericarditis
Given all this and how my family has been affected by heart health, I have raised my goal this year to $15,000! The research the AHA does is needed now more than ever, and I can say first handed that it truly makes an impact!
Thank you for your donations and I hope that continued research can lead to better early detection and treatment options for all heart issues; but in particular pericarditis.
