I will always remember February 20, 2019. I was sitting at the kitchen table writing. It was a Wednesday afternoon. I spoke to my mom 18 times that day. Later that evening, after I got out of the shower the unthinkable happened. I was not feeling well. I called my youngest son Malik to come rub my back for 15 minutes. I didn’t know what was happening to me. I was having severe pain under my left shoulder blade. The pain wouldn’t go away. I took a pain pill, but I vomited the pain pill up. A still tone voice spoke to me and told me to tell Malik to call 911 and his grandmother.
By the time we reached HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, my mental status was unresponsive. I was rapidly worsening. I had no breath. No rhythm. No sound. Just lying lifeless. I was unaware my heart was balding up like a fist. My descending and diagonal arteries where breaking. The quicker they broke; they sealed up on their own quickly. When this gloomy forecast happened, according to Dr. Shadani Abdul, cardiologist I died suddenly for 1 hour 30 minutes.
Dr. Shadani Abdul, cardiologist who came to the ER told the care team my health status was unstable and questionable. The nurse contacted my husband and ask him to come to the hospital. After a nurse called my husband Dwaine, they asked him a question. Do you want us to work on your wife or let her go? After being resuscitated, the decision was made by Dr. Shadani Abdul, cardiologist to code ice and to admit me to ICU.
Medically speaking, Dr. Shadani Abdul, cardiologist didn’t think I was going to make it through the night. The Creator of Truth touched the fruit of my lips and gave me new life. The doctors did not know if I would be brain dead, disabled, or able to talk or walk. The doctor’s asked a question. Who do you know?
What were you doing at the age of 13? My son Malik witnessed the crisis with me firsthand when we were at home. I am grateful for my son Malik for moving quickly. If it was not for him and my husband. I would not be here on today. They are my hero’s. Dr. Shadani Abdul, cardiologist calls me miracle lady. I was once sick but now healed, a living moving miracle like no other.
As a survivor of a massive heart attack. I have joined forces with the American Heart Association and Nova Southeastern University, which is an act of self-care, love, and courage. I made this choice for my sons’, the children I mentor, family, friends, and diverse communities.
Some people walk in the rain. I made a commitment to walk and raise lifesaving dollars to keep children and human hearts beating.
