(Pictured is my Mom months after her cardiac arrest with my daugher, who now is almost 13) This is one of my favorite photos as you can see the love my Mom has for her grandkids. She just wanted to be Glam-ma.
Everyone has a why.
I recently saw a quote that said, if you lose your why, you have lost your way.
I can assure you, my why will continue to have a lasting impact on me, and my entire family. Heart disease has touched my family in more ways than I would like to count.
This organization is my passion.
It is hard to believe, my Mom passed away over 2 years ago, at the young age of 68. My Mom survived a sudden cardiac arrest in 2014, but it changed our lives forever.
I continue to try and find the silver lining since my mom's passing. It will never make sense. But you know what, I did have eight more years with my Mom.
Even though our life remained different, I did have eight more precious years with my Mom because someone was in tune with CPR the evening of February 12, 2014.
My stories continue, as I am sure you may have a story or two yourself.
What happened to Damar Hamlin, happened to my cousin in 2010. Just a month after starting my career at the AHA. CPR was performed, but no AED was on site. Michael passed away at 16 years while playing a sport he loved, football. Michael was #99 on field, and #1 in our hearts forever.
In 2015, Michael's brother, Timmy was swimming and went into suddenc cardiac arrest. CPR was performed, but sadly, Timmy did not survive.
