Lauren chose the University of Denver for her college experience and loved the experience, and Colorado, so much she decided to make Denver her home. She enjoyed hiking and camping in the Rockie Mountains, was the picture of health, and led a very active life.
And then on the evening February 16th she went into cardiac arrest while getting ready for bed and was found by her roommate the next morning. Lauren had planned to go snow showing that morning.
An autopsy showed Lauren had Arrhythmogenic Right Ventriculer Dysplasia (ARVD) and there had no prior indication of her having a heart condition. ARVD is a rare familial disorder that may cause ventricular tachycardia and sudden death in young, apparently healthy individuals.
Lauren had just turned 24 that January.
We have participated in Heart Walks across the country and met many people, and families, that have been impacted by heart disease. Heart disease can effect all ages, including new borns, and we want to raise awareness, and funds, for the American Heart Association.
