Heart disease is the number one killer of women and yet is not treated with the same seriousness as heart disease in men. This means less funding and research for the very different complications that women specifically deal with from their heart condition.
I was very close to never knowing the beautiful, intelligent, badass woman that is my mother. The best day of her life (if I do say so myself) turned into a nightmare when she was diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure.
My mom has dedicated herself to the American Heart Association since then to help increase awareness and improve outcomes. I am following in her footsteps as a Woman of Impact for this year's campaign.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today by joining our team or donating towards our goal. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
