In Loving Memory of Linda Kaye Walters
I'm walking this Heart Walk in honor and memory of my sister and friend, Linda Kaye Walters, who left us far too young on April 7, 2025, at just 53 years old. Linda wasn’t just family—she was a vibrant spirit who loved life deeply and believed wholeheartedly in the transformative power of education.
Linda’s journey in academia was remarkable. She earned both her MSN and PhD at Indiana State University and dedicated nearly two decades to nurturing future healthcare professionals—rising through the ranks to become a professor and valued associate director in the School of Nursing. Her dedication to teaching wasn’t just about passing on knowledge—it was about empowering others to thrive.
We lost Linda to sudden cardiac arrest—an invisible threat that, tragically, affects far too many. Cardiac arrests don’t wait for a convenient moment—they can strike at work, at home, on playgrounds, and in our neighborhoods. By training more people in CPR, by supporting lifesaving research, and by spreading awareness, we honor Linda’s legacy of education and compassion with every action we take.
The Heart Walk is more than a fundraiser—it’s a tribute. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, brings us closer to a community where more people are equipped to respond—and where more lives are saved.
I walk to honor Linda’s memory.
