My HEART STORY is a unique on that started 4 years ago!  After several months of experiencinig shortness of breath and chest pain I learned that my cardiac vessels were so inflammed that I emergently required Cardiac Bypass in June of 2021. I ended up with double bypass and months of high dose steroids and a lot of follow-up to figure out WHY!  My heart health overall was healthy but we learned that my 2nd COVID vaccine triggered a latent auto-immune Large Vessel Vasculitis disease called Takayasu Arteritis.  Heart disease does not always fit the standard picture of heart disease.  Regardless of what it looks like - without the support of research I would not still be here with my family!!!

 

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this. ​

 

Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. ​
