I walk as a survivor of a stroke. Having a stroke well before I turned 50 was a shock to the system to say the least. I was so fortunate to have a provider who did not give up so we identified why my stroke occurred and a hole was repaired in my heart to prevent any future risk of stroke.
I am grateful for the long standing work of the American Heart Association - their research advancements mean that now infants are screended in infancy for my condition as a preventative measure AND my surgery was fairly non invasive because AHA has helped surgeons hone down procedures with new technology advancements.
Our close friend Kyle Wegner is also chairing Heart Walk this year in Central Iowa alongside his company and I am walking to support his dedication to the mission of American Heart as well.
Please donate! We want all Iowans to learn about the importance of being bystanders who act in emergency situations, we want to celebrate survivors like myself, and we want to continue to fund the life saving work of the American Heart Association.
