This race is special to me because both of my parents have suffered from heart disease and benefited from the treatments that research in heart disease has helped discover. It's been about 30 years since my mom had bypass surgery. It was a scary time for us but I am so grateful she got the treatment she did that helped her recover and stay heart healthy all these years. I love running this race because it reminds me of how fleeting life can be and to appreciate the advances in science and technology that can help us live longer and fuller lives.
