I walk for my daughter. She is a fighter. She is strong. She is resilient.
Our daughter was diagnosed with hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy at almost 5 months old. She had been having feeding issues since birth, failure to grow, and extreme fatigue. It was only when we took her in to the ER for a respiratory virus that we found out her heart was enlarged on a chest X-ray checking for pneumonia. An echocardiogram was performed and they found that Jovie's left ventricle was working at 1/2 capacity--it wasn't squeezing how it should and she was in heart failure. Her heart muscle also had some thickening. She was immediately placed in the PICU and transported to Cardinal Glennon's PICU. Jovie is strong and a fighter and has proven that to us time and time again. Come help us raise awareness for heart disease!
