Running with Heart - 2024
Each of us, no matter our race, origin, faith or gender, has a heart that beats, pumps and gives us life from the time we are a mere 6 weeks old in a mother's womb and 30 weeks before birth when we take our first breath in this world.
The heart represents life, love, hope, empathy, courage and the core of the human spirit. So resilient yet ever fragile, a heart can suffer disease, stroke, attack, arrhythmia, failure and of course, our hearts can be broken in many ways large and small in the course of our lives.
In 2024 I am celebrating the heart and all of the life it gives us by raising funds and awareness for the American Heart Association (AHA), a champion of groundbreaking research that saves lives, inspires hope and fosters healing in our families and communities.
On March 3, 2024, I will run my 37th Marathon and also complete the Abbott Six Star World Marathon Majors in Tokyo, Japan.
Amid a world increasingly plagued by anxiety, impatience and conflict, please give generously as the hearts within all people, including our children, increasingly need the heroic research, medical technology and advocacy that the AHA strives to deliver.
Thank you in advance for your care, support, compassion and looking forward to seeing you at the finish line in March !
NB: In early April I will join the "CycleNation" Team in NYC for a post-marathon ride to celebrate the collective challenge we faced and surmounted together.
