Won't lie to you. This job is tough.
It can be long hours, ambitous goals, tons of responsibility. Sometimes things don't go the way they're supposed to. It's kinda 24/7.
But's also like the best job ever.
The most inspiring survivors, hardest working volunteers, and the best team.
We had one of the most impactful years to date. We kicked off the year with a complete streets policy (what-- more bike lanes in neighborhoods of need?? be still my heart) and then worked tirelessly towards even more blood pressure self management in new and diverse clinics culminating in a statewide hypertension summit. We worked on smoke-free air policies in small towns, pursued lifestyle modifcation clinical changes, and we achieved landmark statewide emergency response policy.
We reached more than one million people across Middle TN.
The Heart Walk is where we get to celebrate of all of these things. It is a point of pride that we are up on the stage among some of the biggest companies in our community. The Walk is where we show the community how we do what we do, as a team. And WHY we do what we do, as a team.
So please join me as we pursue an ambitious goal to be top of the leaderboard - to raise more than we ever have and to celebrate our most impactful year ever!
For the cyclist who is getting to work, not just the weekend warrior. For the new mom who is managing her blood pressure. For the patient who can tell her doc she can't afford her meds and he finally listens. For the high school athelete who has a game on a field with an AED nearby. For the man who takes care of his wife who is recovering from a stroke.
