I walk because I am a Heart Failure Survivor and I understand that without Heart Saving research and funds, I and others would not be here today.
In 2011, at the age of 27, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and was told my heart appeared to be that of an 80 year old person who smoked and drank their entire life. Then in 2015, my efraction rate (the rate in which my heart pumps blood to the reset of my body) had dropped to a 10-15% (normal efraction rate should be at least 50%).
But with the help of some amazing doctores at the Cleveland Clinic, I can say today, I am healthly and moving every day to a more brighter future.
This year, as we celebrate the Centennial of the American Heart Association, we will move health and well-being forward in important and critical ways. This relentless pursuit will continue until heart disease and stroke no longer exist.
