Heart disease has touched many of us in a very personal way, either at home or at work. Mine has been touched by both. The loss of a few amazing co-workers: Jon Ah You, Casey Ahkvaluk, and Leo Ramirez.
My family’s life was changed forever on February 15, 2010 when my father suffered a heart attack. He was very lucky that he was a survivor. The doctor told him that it was a miracle that his heart attack was not fatal. He was 100% blocked in one artery and 98% in the other. He had to have 3 stents. His diet and lifestyle needed to change. This has caused our family to look at things very differently and realize that life is very short and we need to make the best of our time here. Thanks to all the research and fundraising of groups like the American Heart Association some people are given a second chance at life.
I would like to thank you in advance for all of the support that I have received over these past several years that I have joined the American Heart Association and the Anchorage Heart Walk.
