Why is Heart Walk important to me?
I walk in honor of my mother's family from China. This is a photo of my grandparents with their six children including my mother. My grandfather died suddenly at age 57 from a heart attack. One uncle died suddenly at age 52, also from a heart attack. My grandmother had multiple strokes before she died. The important research advances and work of the American Heart Association have helped me live a longer, healthier life - particularly with its recent commitment to improving health equity for people from diverse races and ethnicities.
