MY DAD IS MY WHY!
7 years ago, my dad felt dizzy. My mom, being a nurse, recognized something was wrong and took his blood pressure and pulse. His blood pressure and heart rate were lower than normal. My mom had my sister call an ambulance, and it took a while to stabilize him before he could be transported to the hospital. We found out that day, my dad had Bradycardia, which is a heart condition where the heart beats at a slow rate. My dad ended up having to get a pacemaker surgically inserted to regulate his heart rhythm.
However, in the past few years, this wasn't my dad's only episode of heart problems. My dad went into congestive heart failure twice. His heart wasn't pumping as it should have been. Thankfully, with modern medicine that the American Heart Association helps fund research, my dad was able to go home both times. For a long time, my dad's heart was better than ever!
Recently, my dad passed away. I'm thankful and raising funds for the AHA, because with the research that AHA has funded, my dad got to live a lot longer and I got to spend more time with him. My dad was there to see me graduate college and to start a career. My dad was there to see my sister get married and have kids. I am thankful for every extra moment I got with my dad and family.
I'm walking in the Dallas Heart Walk in memory of my dad. Not only making a difference in my family's lives, but in the lives of others participating in the Heart Walk.
But it's not just my efforts alone that will one day help us see a world free of heart disease and stroke. I am walking with a team of heart heroes because together, we will have an even greater impact. And you can help us change the world, one step at a time, by donating to my fundraiser, in honor of my forever heart hero (MY DAD).
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that keeps hearts beating and helps people enjoy longer, healthier lives. I can't do it alone.
Please help me now by donating. Because every step counts. And together we are helping save lives!
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
