Here is my story and one of the many reasons for my passion for the American Heart Association (AHA).
My mom suffered a stroke while alone at her home and was found a few hours later. She was immediately rushed to an AHA certified Stroke hospital. Although she received the best care available, the stroke left her disabled. She was severely paralyzed on the left side of her body. She was aware of what was happening to her and where she was but she was unable to speak, write, or have any type of meaningful communication with her family during her last days. The stroke left her unable to carry out major life functions including eating or even swallowing. She passed away due to these complications after suffering another 40 days.
The impact of cardiovascular disease is devastating. The worst part is knowing that she could have lived a longer life... with education about health, diet, exercise and proper blood pressure management. She could be alive now.
Helping others understand the impacts of this disease and the preventable measures is just one of the many reasons I work for the American Heart Association and dedicate my life to the mission of helping educate people.
Your dollars help the American Heart Association provide research and education to stop our # 1 and # 3 killers of Americans! It's something that affects each of us -- we all have a story.
My mom and family is my why! It inspires my passion -- my story. I need you support... my friends know I only ask for donations ONCE a year and the time is here.
Please donate on my page and help support the cause!
Thank you for your support!
