This is a cause that is near and dear to me. My younger brother, pictured above, was diagnosed many years ago with cardiomyopathy, which is a fatal disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. The doctors think that he got it from a virus that attacked his heart a long time ago, since he doesn't have any of the usual conditions that lead to this. He already has had a pacemaker installed, and last fall had his pacemaker replaced as well as had a defibrillator surgically installed. Not to be too dramatic, but I was in Ohio last August and I honestly didn't know if he would make it until Christmas.
He is now in congestive heart failure, but recent medication developments have really improved his condition, so helping fund this research is important to me.
I encourage each of you to consider joining my team and possibly donating to the team. No donation is required to join the team, but joining shows your support for this cause, and hopefully those in the Raleigh area can join the walk with other LexisNexis employees in the fall.
Thank you so much!
