I am walking in October for the American Heart Association!! I walk because my spouse, the love of my life, had a stroke on June 15, 2020 (a few days earlier, but that's when they finally found it on the MRI). Sunny had gone to the ER the day their stroke happened but was sent home due to negligence. It was not until days later that the same hospital acknowledged they had a stroke and that they were not given the medication they should have been within the 4 hour time window. They then suffered more than 16 subsequent TIAs in the following year and a half.
They later went on to be diagnosed with elevated factor 8 which is a clotting disorder, and antiphospholipid syndrome which is another clotting disorder.
They are at a constant, exponential risk for another stroke or blood clot.
You are never too young to have a stroke!!

Sunny’s speech, memory, motor skills, and body were affected by their stroke. They were able to heal a lot through consistent speech and physical therapy but there are many things that still affect them to this day. Everyone’s outcome from a stroke is different and what type of stroke it was as well as how responsive, knowledgable and fast the medical team treating the person was also factors into the outcome as well.
