The picture you are looking at was taken on October 21, 2022. My best friend and I were celebrating our 25th class reunion at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Tragically, on March 27, 2024, I lost my best friend of 28 years to a heart attack. She was only 44 years old. The loss was unexpected, and processing it has been a significant challenge. Exercise, particularly running and walking, has been a crucial tool in helping me manage my grief.
On July 8, 2024, she would have turned 45. With her birthday approaching, I brainstormed ways to remember her and honor her memory. It led me to a heartfelt decision - I decided to walk to save lives.
Feel free to join my team or donate to the Greater Atlanta Heart Walk. Your help will be immensely appreciated as we walk to remember those we have lost to heart disease and stand with the survivors.
