Thankfully John Lyons is a very intuitve individual. He began to experience symptoms that he believed were abnormal and went straight to his cardiologist.
One evening after work, while walking to catch his bus, he felt a sharp suddent pain to his chest and had shortness of breath.
He immediately contacted his cardiologist and underwent an EKG, which revealed normal results.
He was not convinced these were sympstoms to ignore, so he opted to have a stress test conducted, which also revealed normal results.
As the days followed, normal daily activiities, had Johnny winded and gasping for air.
He once again returned to his cardiologist, who , in turn, sent him for a CAT scan of the heart.
The results of the CT scan revealed plaque and calcium in his Left Anterior Descending Artery, but the blockage in the LAD was undetermined.
He atteneded a follow-up appointment with his cardiologist two days after the CT scan and was informed the doctor could schedule him for an angiogram the following week to determine the amount of the blockage .
After learning his cardiologist would be in the hospital the following day conducting angiograms, John decided to go through the ER the following day and not wait an entire week.
The following day, while undergoing his procedure, the doctor revealed he was an extremely lucky man, because his LAD, a/k/a Widowmaker, was 100 percent blocked , and he was lucky to be alive . He had two stents inserted in one artery.
Grateful to be alive is an understatement.
Johnny would like to remind everyone to be mindful that no one is immune to the potentially life threatening effects of heart disease regardless of your family history.
