With your continued support over the years, I am excited to announce our increased target goal for IDS is a hefty one of $15,000. From groundbreaking research to community education programs, the American Heart Association is a charity I hold near to me following my own personal health scare.
My story started in late Fall 2009 with mere coughing and chest discomfort. By December 2009, I had two stents placed in the main arteries of my heart, a life-saving procedure. Heart disease is hereditary in my family, and unfortunately, we lost my father at the age of 52 following his second heart attack.
Through regular exercise, healthy eating, and lifestyle changes, I am managing my health and feel better than ever, but we continue to monitor my heart. A routine preventative test earlier this year with my Cardiologist landed me back on the surgery table for investigation. I am blessed to have had them confirm I am doing well and the abnormality they saw was not a threat to my health.
