My paternal grandfather suffered from his first heart attack before the age of 50, and congenital heart disease plagued him the remainder of his life before heart failure was ultimately responsible for his passing when I was 11. Although this was the first exposure I had to heart disease, it's far from the last - and the impact that heart failure has had on my life, and my families life, cannot be overstated. I have personally struggled with serious heart problems over the past few years, and have lost loved ones to cardiac arrest and stroke, simply because help could not reach them in time.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research, and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Please help me reach my goal today.
