As some of you may know, in 2008 I was misdiagnosed with an upper respiratory infection at a Med Check in Indianapolis and I was sent home with an antibiotic. Later that night I wasn?t completely convinced of that and several hours later I decided to go to the St. Vincent Heart Hospital and Little did I know I was actually experiencing a heart attack. The doctors there diagnosed me with a blocked LAD (widowmaker) artery, and two other blocked arteries. They quickly informed me that they needed to put stents in me at that time. Fast forward to October of 2009 after speaking with my Cardiologist I underwent a triple coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery, I credit my cardiologist Dr. Hermiller and heart surgeon for still being here and enjoying life today. Each year the AHA Heart Walk means so much to me, not only to do my part to help save lives but also to remember others that lost their lives from heart disease, one in particular was my own mother!
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. ?
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.?
Once agian this year I Walk to Save Lives. Will you please Help me reach my goal today.?
