My husband, Brian, was diagnosed in the last two years (August 26 is our 2 year anniversary of the diagnosis) with a rare autoimmune disorder that causes him to have strokes as a result of increased stress levels. This journey has been anything but easy with two strokes in two years and numerous side effects, but we are so fortunate to have a doctor who specializes in this rare disease just 90 minutes from our home (there are only a handful in the nation who specialize in this)! It is through research, science, and, quite honestly, a miracle that Brian and our family can say we are surviving this disease one day at a time! Some days are better than others, and we have learned to, at times, take it just 1 minute at a time. But we are only able to do this because of the incredible research and scientific advancements that happen every day.
