One year ago, I got a pacemaker after being diagnosed with a complete AV block. At first, it was kind of scary-I mean, who expects to get a pacemaker as a teen? But it turns out, my heart is stronger now than I ever knew (literally).
Since then, I've learned that being brave doesn't mean you're not scared-it means you keep going anyway. And guess what? I did keep going. I get to run, workout, laugh, and dream big, and my pacemaker is just part of my story now.
This year, I'm excited to join my family at the 2025 Coastal Bend Heart Walk! We're walking to celebrate how far I've come, and to raise money for lifesaving heart research so others like me can keep chasing their dreams too.
