It has been over a decade since my Bruce was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathy, and the complications of Arrhythmias. With three young children, one an infant at that time, we were scared out of our wits. When you look into three pairs of innocent eyes, and know that their life may be forever impacted by the tragedy of heart failure at any time, it grounds you on what is important in life and drives you to overcome the challenge. With the help of numerous Doctors and support staff from VA Heart Association; new medications like Entresto; and a Medtronic implant, my Bruce is going strong.
Bruce and I are walking this year in memory of Howard Williams, who passed away last year from complications of Congestive Heart Failure and Afib. Howard is the father of our dearest friend Bruce Willliams, who with his wife Linda, showed enormous love and empathy has they took care of Howard through the last months of his life.
Bruce and I have had the experience of two children graduating from high school and one of them out of college and now employed. It is hard to belief that Irene is now a Senior. Something that not long ago, was one of Bruce's greatest wishes to see. Thank you, to organizations like the American Heart Association, who continue to drive for treatments and support for those of us that are faced with the impacts of Heart Disease.
