Join Me for the 2025 Greater Washington Region Heart Walk!
As a proud co-coach of the Federal Advocacy Team, I am honored to once again participate in the Greater Washington Region Heart Walk. This is not just a walk; it is a movement. A movement to save lives, celebrate survivors, and build a future where heart disease and stroke no longer claim the top spots as causes of death.
This year, I am walking for my friend Tyler Hoekstra.
On March 25, Tyler shared heartbreaking news: he had been diagnosed with severe mitral valve regurgitation. His heart was weakening fast. Just days later, on April 4, he underwent open-heart surgery. Tyler story could have ended very differently, but his persistence saved his life. After completing a half marathon, he pushed for a repeat test so he could train for a full one. That test revealed the danger. Early detection made all the difference.
That is why I walk.
To honor Tyler.
To champion early detection.
To support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association.
Your support helps:
Develop new medications to lower blood pressure
Fight congenital heart disease in newborns
Reduce the number of debilitating strokes
So have a heart and help me walk the walk.
Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference.
Thank you for standing with me, for Tyler, and for the millions of others whose lives depend on the work we do.
