I walk for my Dad - a survivor of heart failure. When he first faced a life-threatening cardiac event, the incredible doctors at The University of Kansas Health System saved his life. And just recently, when new symptoms sent him back to the ER, that same team stepped in once again, fixing what could have been another devastating setback. Their skill, compassion, and dedication have given my family precious time together - time that means even more after the loss of my mother.
I walk because I've seen firsthand what groundbreaking research, education, and expert care can do. The American Heart Association fuels the advancements that keep families like mine whole, giving second chances when they matter most. Every step we take is a step toward healthier hearts, stronger futures, and more moments with the people we love.
This is why I walk - for my dad, for every family, and for a future free of heart disease.
