Why Heart Health Matters Deeply to Me:
Heart disease isn’t just a distant health concern for me — it’s personal.
In April 2024, I was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia, a condition where my heart beats faster than normal, even when I’m at rest. It was something I couldn’t ignore. I began having to closely monitor my heart rate, adjust my daily routines, and eventually start medication to help slow my heart down. I never imagined I’d be dealing with a heart condition in my early 40s, but here I am — learning, adapting, and doing everything I can to take care of my heart.
Unfortunately, my experience is just one part of my family’s story with heart disease and stroke.
On my father’s side, my grandfather suffered two strokes that left him wheelchair-bound and unable to use the left side of his body. The man who had once been so strong became frail, and his health challenges touched every part of our family’s lives. He later received a pacemaker, but the strokes had permanently altered his independence and quality of life.
My grandmother also faced a major heart battle, undergoing open-heart surgery — an intimidating and life-changing procedure.
At the end of last year, my other grandmother suffered a stroke. When she was hospitalized, we learned it wasn’t her first — she had actually experienced a previous stroke that we hadn’t known about until then.
Heart disease and stroke have impacted both sides of my family, leaving a lasting mark on our lives. They’ve shaped how I view my own health and pushed me to be proactive, not only for myself but for future generations.
That’s why I’m raising awareness — and asking for your support.
If my story resonates with you, or if you’ve been affected by heart disease in your own life, please consider making a donation. Every dollar helps fund life-saving research, support survivors, and raise awareness to prevent others from facing the same challenges my family has endured.
Together, we can make a difference. ❤
